New Maruti Suzuki Baleno 2022 Model Review: Here Is Everything You Need To Know

The 2022 Maruti Suzuki Baleno premium hatchback has been released starting at ₹ 6,35,000/- for the model with the manual gearbox and at ₹ 7,69,000/- for the model with an automatic gearbox. The 2022 Baleno is available in four variants namely Sigma, Delta, Zeta, and Alpha.

The base Sigma variant gets only the manual gearbox while the other three variants can be had in both the manual as well as the automatic gearbox. Also, the 2022 Baleno can be owned through Maruti Suzuki Subscription where you can subscribe to it from ₹13,999/- per month all-inclusive. 

Engine, Gearbox, and Fuel Efficiency

The 2022 Maruti Suzuki Baleno is powered by a 1.2-liter K-Series Dual Jet Dual VVT four-cylinder engine that produces 113 Nm of torque and peak power of 66 kW. The engine is equipped with a mild-hybrid system with Idle Start-Stop technology to improve fuel efficiency.

Speaking of which the 2022 Baleno has an ARAI claimed fuel efficiency of 22.35 kmpl for the manual and 22.94 kmpl for the automatic gearbox. The transmission options are 5-speed manual and 5-speed AMT or Auto Gear Shift (AGS) in Maruti Suzuki lingo.

Key Features

The new Baleno has received a lot of key updates for the 2022 model year. The key highlights include 9-inch touchscreen infotainment, ARKAMYS premium surrounds sound system, 360-degree camera view, head-up display, auto-dimming inside rearview mirror, automatic climate control, all-LED exterior lights, 16-inch alloy wheels, etc.

On the safety part, the new Baleno gets 6-airbags, ABS with EBD, rear parking sensors, Electronic Stability Program (ESP) with Hill Hold Assist, High-Speed Alert, LED fog lamps, front-seat seatbelt reminder, and finally added structural reinforcement by increasing the use of High Tensile & Ultra High Tensile steel.

Standard Features

The base variant of the new Baleno comes with halogen projector headlamps, LED taillights, body-colored bumpers, all four power windows with driver-side anti-pinch and auto up/down, central locking and keyless entry, automatic climate control, rear defogger, gear shift indicator, title adjustable steering wheel, reverse parking sensors, high-speed alert, seat belt reminder, two airbags, ABS with EBD, brake assist, ISOFIX child mounts, and seatbelt pre-tensioner.

Exterior Color & Personalization Options

The 2022 Maruti Suzuki Baleno will be available in six exterior color options namely Nexa Blue, Opulent Red, Splendid Silver, Luxe Beige (new for 2022), Grandeur Grey, and Arctic White. A small trivia, the Nexa Blue and the Artic White are the most sold Baleno color options.

As for the customization options Maruti Suzuki offers you two packages namely the Elegrande collection and the Novo-Spirit collection.

 

The former offers front bumper and rear bumper garnish, bodyside molding, seat cover, all-weather 3D mats, illuminated door sills, interior styling kit, etc. 

While the latter gets you a front and rear skid plate, a dark color scheme with champagne accents for key accessories like grille garnish, bodyside molding, bumper corner protector, etc. Other accessories included in this are premium mats, seat cover, dual-color door sill guard, interior styling kit, etc.
